Stefano, how long have you lived in Seattle?
I moved to West Seattle 8 months ago and bought my dream house with my family on the Puget Sound. Over many previous years, I spent time visiting friends in Seattle and always had a love for the Pacific Northwest. Prior to coming here, I worked professionally in theater for 10 years and spent more than 15 years working in luxury hotels in NYC, traveling and being a foodie.
What is one of your favorite neighborhoods in the city?
On my days off, you’ll find me exploring all the amazing different neighborhoods. In West Seattle, you’re less than 20 minutes away from downtown but you’re in a quiet, beautiful, still bustling neighborhood with stunning views and every kind of cuisine you can imagine. Whether you are strolling along Alki Beach, enjoying the farmers market or wandering the local town of Alaska Junction, you’ll get a true Seattle experience.
In West Seattle…
…what’s your favorite thing to do?
My favorite activity is walking, hiking and enjoying the outdoors, either in Lincoln Park or Alki Beach. Both are very large, and you can spend hours walking and hiking. West Seattle is perfect for getting outside and soaking up the city’s beauty. That said, eating and drinking at my favorite restaurants is definitely an activity that I enjoy.
…your favorite place to go in West Seattle?
Alki Beach. It’s free and open to the public. It’s a long beach strip that runs from Alki Point to Duwamish Head on Elliott Bay, with a wide path for walking, jogging and biking. You can rent bikes, or just sit out on the beach to soak up some rays. There are picnic tables and a restroom at the south end. Right across from the beach are several restaurants, and it’s a prime spot to sip on a cocktail and watch the sun set over the Olympic mountain range.
…your favorite bite to eat and beverage to sip?
It’s honestly too hard to narrow down. And since everyone has different tastes, here is a range of dining options in West Seattle:
- Phoenecia: Tapas and Pizza and small bites
- Maree Bistro and Bar: French Bistro
- Duke’s Chowder House: Best clam chowder in Seattle
- La Rustica: Italian | Small intimate dining along the Sound, like you are dining in Almafi Italia
- Catcus: Mexican | Watch the most amazing sunsets over the Olympic Mountain Range
- Salty’s Alki Beach: Amazing Happy Hour and Seafood | Best views of downtown
We hope to see you soon at Hotel 1000! Thank you, Stefano, for your Seattle recommendations.
