A WOW story highlights a particular instance in which a resort went above and beyond for a guest or group.
Read on to learn what Now Jade’s staff organized for a couple staying at their resort.
During a conversation between Marcela, one of Now Jade’s housekeepers, and a couple staying at the resort, Marcela learned some information about the guests and saw an opportunity to create an unforgettable moment for them.
The couple was on the verge of cancelling their vacation because Charlie, their beloved dog of 10 years, passed away just days before they were supposed to start their trip. The couple told Marcela how special of a dog Charlie was and how he spent his entire life working at an organization for children with autism, and how until the end, he lived to bring joy to these kids who loved him dearly.
When Marcela told the rest of the staff about this story, the staff got in touch with “Komodo” the organization Charlie used to work at, which is located in Playa del Carmen. With the help of our guest and a representative from Komodo, the resort organized an event that would not only bring joy to the couple, but also benefit this wonderful organization.
The resort asked the guests (the resort’s accomplice) to meet at the beach the next day, along with a representative from Komodo. Now Jade then explained to all of them that the resort was starting a campaign at Now Jade Riviera Cancun called “Tapatón Charlie.” The campaign’s goal would be to collect all of the bottle caps from plastic bottles with the help of the staff throughout the entire resort, and donate these caps to Komodo, who sells them as a way to get funding.
The resort signed a pledge the same day and committed to donating all of the collected bottle caps to Komodo for an entire year! The pledge was signed by the resort’s General Manager and the Komodo representative, with the couple as witnesses.
Our guests couldn’t hold back the tears as they found out about the campaign created in Charlie’s honor – the entire event was very emotional for the couple, as well as for the Now Jade team. To close the surprise, the resort presented the guests with a special wooden box, engraved with Charlie’s name, where the couple could keep all of the items that remind them of Charlie.
At the time of checkout, the resort also gave them copies of the photos that were taken during the event. The husband mentioned that it was a very emotional moment for him and that he was going to share this wonderful experience with everyone back home and at the organization itself. He also left some pictures of Charlie working with the kids and we shared them with Komodo so they could share them with the children of Playa del Carmen, who surely miss their friend Charlie.
