A unique vibrant feeling is palpable in Atlanta’s Midtown neighborhood. The balance of recreation, entertainment, business and residential communities has made this urban oasis a popular destination, seeing over six million visitors each year. It’s also the place to go for the best of Atlanta arts.
Home to the largest concentration of cultural venues in the southeast —over 25 arts and cultural venues, 22 entertainment facilities and over 30 permanent performing arts groups — Midtown has earned the nickname the “Heart of the Arts”. The cultural epicenter has been described as, “where legends come to play and new artists emerge.”
Here are three ways you can explore Atlanta’s art scene with ease.

Art Museums
One of the world’s most visited museums is the High Museum of Art, located only a few blocks from Loews Atlanta. It features both classical and contemporary art under the same roof. In 2017, exhibits include illustrations of Eric Carle of The Hungry Caterpillar, Ashley Bryan and Andy Warhol. Next year, the entire second floor will be taken over by one of the twentieth century’s most influential artists, Yayoi Kusama. Visitors can take a fascinating journey through over 60 years of Kusama’s genius installments. Even the High Museum’s architecture is a modern, masterful work of art!
For those who appreciate design in its many forms, the Museum of Design Atlanta is a great place to visit. With various workshops, classes and exhibits, they promote the creativity and functionality of design to enhance our lives.

Performing Arts
Located on Atlanta’s notorious Peachtree Street, the Fox Theatre beams Atlanta history. From Phantom of the Opera to performances by Adele and seasonal treats like the Atlanta Ballet’s The Nutcracker, this landmark venue offers phenomenal entertainment for everyone.
Ever heard of the Grammy’s? The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra sure has! They have over 30 under their belt. How about the Tony Award? Well, the Alliance Theatre is a proud recipient of one of those. Even puppets get their time in the spotlight in Midtown’s inventive Center of Puppetry Arts.

Artistic Community
Atlantans have truly embraced the spirit of creativity, and artistic expression can be discovered around every corner. Whether it’s murals bringing new life to ordinary spaces or interactive art installations you can spot just walking throughout the city, Atlanta has been painted by creative geniuses.
From cultural festivals to art and film festivals, there is always something to do in Midtown. Piedmont Park, the Southeast’s largest multicultural festival setting, is located just behind Loews Atlanta. It hosts exceptional events throughout the year.
Start planning your trip to Atlanta and allow yourself time to appreciate the award-winning artistic culture which has become the backbone of the community. It is sure to fill your hearts as you explore the core of Atlanta’s art scene.
