We are always extremely proud of the dedication and expertise of our crew and officers, and are thrilled to recognize two in particular – Vice Captain Damir Rikanovic and Marina Team Leader Kurt Dreyer of Crystal Cruises’ Crystal Esprit. This November, they were recognized with Certificates of Commendation for Exceptional Bravery at Sea by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) during the 2017 IMO Awards.
On February 16, 2017, Crystal Esprit came to the aid of a distressed catamaran, carrying 12 passengers (three children and nine adults), that overturned off the coast of the Seychelles during stormy weather.
The video below features the official ceremony, during which Rikanovic and Dreyer were acknowledged for their bravery and selflessness.
We are honored to share their story with you, our Crystal Family, and proud to call these two officers members of Team Crystal.
