If you’re visiting South Florida this September, we’re going to let you in on a little dining secret: Summer is every Miami foodie’s favorite time of year. As Miami Spice rolls around — basically Miami’s extended version of Restaurant Week — we get to enjoy three-course lunch/brunch ($23) and dinner ($39) menus through the end of September.

It’s the perfect way to explore Miami’s dining scene while wandering through new neighborhoods. Here are six Miami restaurant hot spots worth checking out.

Bar Collins

Loews Miami Beach Hotel’s new lobby lounge and restaurant is serving up a taste of its Flavor Miami program with dishes featuring ingredients from local artisans including Zak the Baker, Winter Park Dairy and Bee My Honey. Bar Collins offers cozy booths and high-top tables, terrace seating, and an indoor-outdoor bar that’s the perfect place to unwind at the end of a long day. During Miami Spice, indulge in Latin-inspired Miami cuisine, like ahi tuna tartare with pineapple and chicharrón (fried pork rinds), grilled skirt steak with chimichurri and parmesan truffle fries, or Bar Collins’ classic guacamole with pita and plantain chips. For dessert, try the cast iron crème brulee or traditional Italian zeppole (powdered sugar doughnuts). The best part? Dinner comes with a complimentary glass of wine or pint of beer included.

Lure Fishbar

This award-winning seafood restaurant located in Loews Miami’s historic St. Moritz tower is not only a go-to spot for happy hour (where else can you get $1 oysters every day?!), but also a local favorite during Miami Spice as well. Now is the best time to discover delights from Lure’s new executive chef Nicolas Cabrera and new sushi chef Kiichi Okabe, from the chef’s freshest selection of sushi to unique offerings like braised octopus empanadas or salmon tartare. Save room for dessert – Lure’s signature chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches can’t be beat.

This former Art Deco hotel turned South Beach steakhouse is a local staple down the block from our resort, and it’s serving up some quality meats – and more – during Miami Spice. Whether you’d like a bone-in short rib steak, grilled bavette, pastrami-spiced wagyu brisket, or hearty 8-ounce filet, portion sizes don’t come small at the butcher shop-inspired Quality Meats. But if you’re not in the mood for beef, plenty of options are still on the table, from the seafood charcuterie platter or house-cured bacon slab with peanut butter and jalapeño jelly, to the jerk-braised lamb with coconut grits and mango relish.

Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink

Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Michael’s Genuine from James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Schwartz has quickly become a tried and true Miami staple. The upscale-casual eatery – which many say kicked off South Florida’s farm-to-table revolution – serves up locally sourced cuisine, from wood-grilled entrees, to housemade pastas, and salads with seasonal fruit. During Miami Spice, Michael’s Genuine will be rotating its menu items on a regular basis, but we’re confident any dish you choose will be a hit. Situated right in the heart of Miami’s Design District, we suggest pairing lunch or brunch at Michael’s with a shopping outing amid the city’s most high-fashion designer stores. We’re talking Burberry, Fendi and Dior.

Beaker and Gray

Nowadays, no trip to Miami is complete without wandering through Wynwood Arts District and snapping a few photos of its crazy, colorful street murals. When you inevitably get hungry in the middle of one of these impromptu photo shoots, head to Beaker & Gray – our favorite spot in Wynwood for inventive craft cocktails. The rustic restaurant offers a shareable menu that shines as bright as its cocktails, and during Miami Spice, items like Spanish octopus and grass-fed short rib are on tap. We also can never get enough of Beaker & Gray’s whimsical desserts, and the Cookie Butter Sundae with speculoos, caramel and sweet cream ice cream sounds like the stuff dreams are made of.

Kiki on the River

For a taste of life on the Miami River, head to Kiki, a romantic new Greek restaurant inspired by the Mediterranean islands. Find serenity dining al fresco under blue and white canopies with waterfront views, or opt for a more opulent experience indoors. No matter where you find yourself sitting, Kiki on the River’s simple Greek cuisine is sure to impress as much as the setting. Enjoy seafood like grilled octopus, shrimp saganaki and seared scallops; Greek delights including the halloumi cheese platter and marinated lamb T-bone; and wash it all down with traditional baklava or a seasonal fruit platter for dessert.
