Wedding robes aren’t just a practical way of protecting clothes, hair and make-up when you and your bridal party are getting ready for the big day – they can look super cute in photos as well as being a great memento/thank you gift for your closest friends and family.
Here are our top 5 things to consider when choosing robes for your bridal party:
The Robe Style
There are so many different options for bridal party robes such as floral robes, monogrammed robes, lace robes or even satin robes. Think about the wedding morning photos, your color scheme and what fits in best with the theme of your wedding overall. If you’re thinking about a monogrammed design, what is it going to say and how is it going to look? We always recommend a more classic, subtle design that your bridal party won’t feel silly wearing after the wedding day but of course, the choice is yours.
Also think about the skin tones and hair color of your bridesmaids, the season and how the robe will actually look in the photographs. Will they all have the same color robe or will you alternate? You may wish to choose one color for the maid of honor, mother of the bride etc. and a different one for the bridesmaids.
Feeling Comfortable while Getting Ready
We all come in different shapes and sizes, and as a wedding day – particularly the getting ready part – is usually a very busy day, balancing comfort and style is important. For example, jersey lace robes are super soft, comfy and easy to wear. If you have any taller or smaller members of your bridal party make sure that their robe will fit them properly, if robes are too short this usually means that something will need worn underneath (like yoga pants) which might change the look of the photographs.
Consider your Wedding budget
Depending on what you’ve arranged with your wedding day crew, you may be paying for the robes as a gift to your bridal party. If this is the case, obviously consider your budget as if you have a large bridal party, it all adds up. If your bridesmaids are paying for their own robes, just remember that the average cost of being a bridesmaid in the US is $1,200 so get their input too.
Turnaround and delivery time
Particularly relevant if you’re getting a custom or monogrammed robe, make sure that you check what the turnaround time for manufacture and delivery is and build in certain amount of contingency time.
