Did you know Philadelphia is one of the best kept secrets for being a kid-friendly destination? No other city can make history as fun as Philly can, but there’s way more to it than just history (picture hot air balloon rides, paddle boating…). Here are some of the top kid-friendly Philly attractions your family will love.
Table of Contents
Philadelphia Zoo
Hop on the Zoo Balloon to make yourself even taller than the giraffes and zebras! The Balloon takes you 400 feet up, overlooking the Zoo’s wildlife with the impressive Philly skyline in the distance. It lasts about 10 minutes and has individual ticket pricing, as well as family discount pricing.
Also at the zoo, you can’t miss the Big Cat Crossing, a 330-foot overhead passageway for lions, tigers and other big cats to roam from one end of the Zoo to another. You’ll be as amazed as the kids watching these majestic animals pass by.

National Constitution Center
“When I grow up, I want to be president!” At the National Constitution Center, kids (and adults!) can stand behind the podium with the official Presidential Seal and be “sworn in” as the next president of the United States of America. They can also walk among life-sized bronze statues of our Founding Fathers in Signer’s Hall, where kids can also pretend to sign the Constitution.
If you’re looking for more history, the Liberty Bell is just one block away and the Betsy Ross House is just a few blocks further.

Franklin Square
Franklin Square is the perfect playful environment for a laidback afternoon. Kids can play a round of Philly-themed miniature golf, take a ride on the carousel, and run around the playground. Because they’ll work up an appetite here, be sure to grab a bite from SquareBurger. They serve delicious burgers, hot dogs, fries and shakes.
Please Touch Museum Facebook
Please Touch Museum
Kids can repair a car. They can race sailboats. And launch a rocket into space. They can dress up as doctors, chefs, and construction workers. The Please Touch Museum is the best place for kids to use their imaginations because it’s packed with activities that promote learning in a fun way. This museum is recommended for kids from ages 6 months to 7 years.

Franklin Institute
The Franklin Institute is famous for hosting some of the coolest exhibitions, so I know the Mirror Maze (opening May 27) will be amazing. With seemingly endless floor-to-ceiling mirrors, kids will discover patterns around them to navigate themselves through the maze.
Spruce Street Harbor Park Facebook
Spruce Street Harbor Park
I saved the best for last, which is Spruce Street Harbor Park. Play fun lawn games like bean bag toss and life-sized Connect Four. Head inside the arcade and play Ms. Pacman and air hockey. Grab a bite of some of the city’s favorite eats served food-truck style (and don’t forget dessert, too). Finally, you and the kids can plop down in a hammock and relax alongside floating gardens and the Delaware River waterfront. Admission is free and so are most games! On the weekends, you can rent swan boats and rowboats for $10 per half hour at Penn’s Landing Marina.
Enjoy some family fun this summer!
