The eternal summer is in full swing here in San Diego, and we can’t think of any better place to enjoy our amazing weather than the beach. The perfect spot on the sand (complete with a beach towel and an umbrella) is highly coveted around these parts, but I’m going to tell you the best places to pull up some sand in this guide to the top San Diego beaches.
Mission Beach

With over two miles of coastline, Mission Beach is basically the mecca of beaches in San Diego. Prepare to see tons of rollerbladers, bicyclers and runners on the boardwalks. (Or get crazy and join them!) You have to check out the nearby Belmont Park for a classic beachside roller coaster and carnival games.

Moonlight Beach

If you’re heading further north for the day, Moonlight Beach is the spot. Considered one of the best family beaches in San Diego County, this beach is gorgeous and pristine.

I am a bit biased because this is the first beach I ever went to in San Diego back when I was in middle school, but seriously it’s beautiful. Though popular, this one is worth the crowds.
Silver Strand Beach

This one is a no-brainer for us. First of all, it’s in the backyard of Loews Coronado Bay Resort. A five-minute walk or a quick golf-cart shuttle ride away, it’s the perfect spot to soak up the sun while staying at #LoewsCoronado. But beyond that, it’s a beautiful beach. Also: it’s usually less crowded than the Coronado Beach. During your stay at the resort, enjoy access to beach chairs, towels, boogie boards and more.

Snag some sandwiches and chips at the Silver Strand Exchange, and the perfect beach picnic awaits. Or even better, beach party! We’ve seen some of the most incredible beach parties at the Silver Strand Beach.
San Diego is definitely known for it’s beaches, so it’s hard to go wrong. Pro Tip: Wake up early and catch a sunrise at least once during your stay in San Diego. It will be worth it. Enjoy the super summer!
