A WOW story highlights a particular instance in which a resort went above and beyond for a guest or group. These moments are special and ones that the guest or group will always remember from their time at Dreams Resorts & Spas – we can’t wait to share more of them with you!
A Los Cabos vacation turned into a beautiful family reunion for one of our guests! Read on to find out how the staff pulled off such an incredible gesture!
Our story begins during Mr. & Mrs. W.’s check in process. Mrs. Elena shared that she was 85 years old and originally from Mexico, and that her husband David, who is 95 years old, is from Poland. She mentioned that they don’t travel as much anymore due to medical conditions, and while getting a little emotional, she shared that her sister lives in Mexico City and they have not been able to see each other in 12 years. Elena said she isn’t allowed to travel to Mexico City because of the city’s altitude and that her sister, Rebeca, hadn’t been able to visit her in California.
During the conversation, she also said she was hoping this wouldn’t be their last trip, given their age. This got the staff thinking about the possibility of making Elena´s dream of seeing her sister once again, come true. We did a little research and were able to get in touch with Virginia, Elena’s niece who lives in Mexico City. She was very excited about the idea and gladly helped plan this beautiful surprise! While Virginia coordinated her mother’s travel plans, the staff at Dreams Los Cabos went to work on this sweet surprise!
Mr. & Mrs. W were invited to The Preferred Club Lounge, where 82 year old Rebeca was waiting for them. Witnessing the reunion of the two sisters was very emotional and moving. Both hugged and laughed with tears of joy in their eyes, after so many years of not seeing each other. Elena and Rebeca were very grateful and Elena was kind enough to say, “Thank you for doing all this and allowing me to see my sister again, God bless you all. I hope to be able to come back to my home away from home. I just have no words to say how much I appreciate what you have done for us”. Our guests of honor were offered a Mexican buffet with the their favorite foods and beverages – Kahlua based cocktails! On the TV screen, a special presentation with pictures of both sisters was shown as they caught up and enjoyed each others company in The Preferred Club. The housekeeping department also created welcome messages on their beds, with one that had said “Welcome sister Rebeca”.
This is how the great staff was able to make this wonderful reunion happen for Rebeca and Elena, who were able to enjoy a vacation together at Dreams Los Cabos after 12 years of being apart.
