We recently wrote about best happy hours in up-valley restaurants, but there are plenty to enjoy without leaving downtown Napa. Grab a cocktail, a brew, or a glass of wine and before you know it, you’ve had dinner for not much green. Here are some of our favorites.
Bounty Hunter Wine Bar. Two-for-one wines by the glass and draft beers, $6 for rib-and-slaw appetizer or $11 sampler plate. Monday through Friday 3 to 6 pm.
Basalt. Beers $4, wines $7 and $8, cocktails $8. Small bites, from $8 to $18, include beer-battered cod tacos, ahi tuna poke, and chicken wings. Weekdays 5 pm to 6:30 pm, weekends 2:30 to 6:30 pm.
TORC. Selected wines $6, beers $3 and $4. Bites, all $5, include a quesadilla with Schmitz Ranch short rib, devilled eggs with picked onion and bacon, and sweet-potato pakora with yogurt truffle dip. 5 to 6:30 pm Wednesday through Monday (closed Tuesday).
Carpe Diem. Draft beers $4, wines and sparkling wines $6. Bar snacks are $3 to $13, including truffle popcorn or harissa fries, butternut squash arancini, and wild mushroom flatbread. Daily 4 to 6 pm.
Eiko’s. Beers from $3 to $5, wines and well drinks $6. Bar bites ($5 to $9) include tempura green bean “healthy fries,” California roll, spare ribs, and Miyagi oysters. Monday through Friday 4 to 6 pm.
Ca’ Momi. House-brewed organic beers $5, house wines $5. Cicchetti (Venetian-style snacks) are $5 to $8, including folpetti (baby musky octopus), suppli (rice balls stuffed with mozzarella), and crostini fegatini (crostini with chicken liver) (shown in cover photo). Tuesday-Sunday from 5-6pm and late night on Friday & Saturday from 10pm until bedtime!
Napkins Bar & Grill. All draft beers $3, cocktails $5 to $7, selected wines $5. Small bites ($3 to $14) include grilled lamb sliders, steamed mussels and clams, and white cheddar mac and cheese. Daily from 3 to 6 pm.
Andaz Mercantile. Full menu 25% off from 6 to 8 pm daily, including hushpuppies, duck and cranberry flatbread, or cheese and charcuterie.
Azzurro Pizzeria. Features a selected red, white, and sparkling wine as well as beer. Happy hour menu includes meatballs and pepperoni, salsiccia, or margherita pizza. Monday thru Thursday 4 to 6 pm.
Norman Rose Tavern. Food includes chicken wings ($9) and sliders ($4) as well as $5 beers on draft, a red and a white wine at $6 per glass. Monday through Friday 3 to 6 pm.
1313 Main. Features wines and beers, $5 to $10, Marin Miyagi oysters, Saigon Brussels sprouts, and puffed kale chips, $4 to $5. Wednesday through Friday 5 to 6pm.
