Party time! Not only is Montreal celebrating his 375th Anniversary this year, but the celebrations extend to the rest of Canada, with the country celebrating its 150th Anniversary. You may associate these kinds of special occasions with expensive events and nights out, but there are actually a bunch of fun activities to do in the city that are free. Yes, free. Here’s a look at what you can enjoy this summer.
Festivals Everywhere!
Montreal is known for its festivals. Many of the most popular ones, such as Montreal Jazz Festival, Just for Laugh Festival and Francofolies take place at Place des Art. Get acquainted with this great spot for catching free concerts and discovering new comedians and artists.
Free Guided Tours
Interested in knowing a little more about the city and Montreal’s unique architecture? Good news: there are a number of free guided tours of the city you can take. Doing one of these tours gives you the chance to explore deeper and see the Montreal City Hall or the Quays of the Old-Port like no-one else. You can also immerse yourself in the production universe of Cité Mémoire, which highlights majors characters who developed the city’s culture. Free Performances
We know better than anyone how lovely it is to order room service and have a lazy morning, or head to a bistro for a leisurely brunch. But this free activity is worth getting out of bed for on a Sunday morning: head to Old Montreal and stop at the Notre-Dame Basilica to hear a 25-person choir accompanied by an organ. It’s a great way to set the tone for a day of further wandering Montreal!
