In a city like New York, you’re never short of incredible spots to eat and drink. But what about working? Or simply catching up on email and social posts over a coffee or tea? Guests of Loews Regency New York have great spots in the chic lobby space and Sant Ambroeus Coffee Bar. But we know you want to get out and explore the city, so we’ve curated five wonderful places to wander in New York when you’re looking for Wi-Fi and caffeine.
Central Park
In summer, you can’t beat the park for a relaxing place to take five (or a whole afternoon, if you can swing it). The south-eastern corner of Central Park is just two blocks away from Loews Regency, and it’s your portal to a sprawling green oasis with plenty of different spaces to suit your mood. Bring your own coffee or stop by a cart on the street and connect to the park’s free Wi-Fi. The High Line
Another green space in the midst of the urban jungle that’s a must-visit when in New York is this elevated park built on an old freight rail line. It runs from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 34th Street, between 10th and 12th Avenues. There’s lots of seating, free Wi-Fi access and plenty of public art to check out as you stroll. If the sun gets too hot and you need a blast of A/C, we recommend a visit to the Whitney Museum, or dropping into a coffee shop along 10th Avenue, like the Intelligentsia espresso bar in the lobby of the High Line Hotel. It has an eclectic, vintage vibe, and additional seating in the courtyard.

Indoor Atriums
This is one of the best kept secrets in New York City: privately owned public spaces with free Wi-Fi, many also offering public art and foliage, typically located on the ground floor of skyscrapers in Midtown and the Financial District. At lunchtime, you’ll rub elbows with local office workers, but at other times of day, these atriums are often quiet and peaceful. Good bets include the atriums at: 590 Madison Ave (at 57th Street); One Bryant Park (at 42nd Street); The David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center; 180 Maiden Lane (near the South Street Seaport); and the 60 Wall Street Atrium (between William and Pearl Streets). A Neighborhood Café
Good coffee shops have flourished in New York in recent years, so no matter where you wander in the city, you’re likely to be close to an excellent option for a latte and some quality online time. Popular outposts beloved by serious coffee aficionados include Toby’s Estate, Stumptown Coffee Roasters, Think Coffee, Blue Bottle and Birch Coffee. For a more local neighborhood feel, try a café like Gotan in Tribeca. It has plenty of room, coffee and Wi-Fi, plus sandwiches, salads and pastries.
Working & Meeting Made Simple
There are plenty of co-working spaces in New York, but you usually need to be a member and sign up for minimum time periods that don’t make sense for visitors to the city. An easier option for your time in NYC is a pay-as-you-go solution, like the one provided by Breather.
Breather has a network of more than 150 spaces all over the city, most of them in office buildings, which you can rent for 30 minutes, a few hours or a whole day. Spaces range in size from small nooks perfect for a solo break to conference rooms where you can take meetings.

Spacious is a similar concept but the spaces you access are restaurants that are closed during the day and transformed into ad-hoc co-working spaces. This one does involve membership — $95 per month, which provides access to all restaurants in the network — so it’s better suited for frequent visitors to NYC. Perks include complimentary coffee and tea, loads of outlets and blazing-fast Wi-Fi. Restaurants include some big-name spots like La Sirena, DBGB Kitchen & Bar and Saxon + Parole, so this doubles as a way of previewing a space before you make a reservation to come back for a meal. Check if Spacious is still offering its free week-long trial for new members to give it a whirl.
